Adyghe (Adyghe: Адыге), officially Adyghe Republic (Adyghe: Адыге Республик) is a republic in the Russian Federation, which is included in the Southern Federal District, the capital city is Maykop. The republic is bordered on all sides by Krasnodar. It was created on July 27, 1922 as Adyge (Cherkessia) Autonomous District, in August 1928 the name was changed to Adyge Autonomous District, and on June 3, 1991 to the Republic.
